End of term reflection. Due Wednesday November 17

In wrapping up your work for the term, please write a final reflection in a post on your blog using the following process.
1.
Update your blog, checking labels, and making sure you have photographs of all your work. When you click on the portfolio label four projects should come up.
2.
Look at the work you've made this term.
3.
Spend some time thinking about the following questions:

How has this term gone for you?

What have you learned?

How have you grown as an artist?

What has surprised you?

What do you think your biggest successes have been so far?

What have been your biggest challenges?

If you could, what advice would you give to yourself about the class at the start of the term?

Looking ahead, what do you need to consider and/or work on to continue to grow as an artist?

4.

Finally, compose a thoughtful, well-written paragraph that answers some of the questions above and tells the story of your work in Intermediate Drawing and Painting this term. Be as honest and specific as possible, using specific examples (projects, things said or done in class, etc.) when appropriate.

5.

Spell check. Re-read what you’ve read aloud to make sure it is as well composed as possible.

Heroes.

Go to one or two reputable online newspapers and search for the term hero.
On your blog note what kinds of stories come up. Do you think the people in these articles are heroes or not?

Now...to prepare for a discussion in class tomorrow, spend some time writing about the following two questions:
What does it mean to be a hero?
What is a heroic act?

Finally...see if you can find a work of art that portrays a hero or someone committing a heroic act. Include an image of it in your blog post and note who made the work of art, where they're from, and when it was made. Be prepared to discuss it in class tomorrow.

Mid-term Reflection.

Next week, we'll be halfway through our time together. Take some time to thoughtfully write about how your work has been developing up to this point. Spell-check and re-read your writing for readability.

Think about this in terms of three categories:
1.
PRODUCT: what you've made.
2.
PROCESS: how you've made it (brainstorming, sketchbooks, source imagery, blogging, seeking and out and making use of feedback).
3.
ENGAGEMENT: your approach to the work (check out the "What does engagement look like in the studio?" document on the class site for more details).

You already wrote about the concept for your What if project.
Spend some time reflecting on how it turned out. What is most successful about it? What would you do differently?
